SIDDHA EXTERNAL THERAPY - SEELAI

As already told there are 32 types of external therapy in Siddha medicine. Each is specialized in a unique way.
One such type of external therapy is "SEELAI". This method is a simple procedure and can be done in home itself. For this we need a clean and pure cotton white cloth,a plate, medicated oil as prescribed by a Siddha physician.
Take the plate and heat it in the gas stove, pour the medicated oil in it so that it gets heated. Now put the cloth in the oil and take it and spread it out over the area where the pain or odema is present.
This gives simple relief to patients who are suffering from pain. This procedure is carried out for a period of half an hour only. The heat must be only up to the tolerance level of the patient. Otherwise the patient will feel uncomfortable.

Siddha External Theraphy

One of the most promising type of treatment in the siddha field is it's external therapy. There are 32 types of external therapy in siddha. All are specialized in certain diseases. Here we are going to see the therapy called " OTHADAM ".
OTHADAM is a method in which medicated leaves or powders or rice grain disk or certain pulses or certain barks or one or two of the above things combined together, taken in a vessel and heated mildly. Then it is bundled in a fresh cloth and slightly pressed above the inflammated area.
This therapy helps in reducing the pain in the inflammation, trauma, etc.

AKKARAKARAM IN SIDDHA MEDICINE - PELLITHRY ROOT

Botanical name : Anthemis pyrethrum

The use ful part of this plant is its root. Generally it is used in medicine which cures arthritis.

It increase the saliva secretion in the mouth thus reduce the thirst.

Chewing a small piece of this root or gargling the decotion of the root cures toothaches, tonsilitis, dryness of mouth due to fever.

Powder of this root used as a inhaler via nostrils (naziam)  cures fits.

Akkarakaram, sukku (dried ginger), thippili (long pepper), sensanthanam (sandalwood), kirampu (cloves), saathikaai (nut meg), kunkuma poo (kunkum) all of these taken as equal parts and then finely powdered. Along with this half part of abin (opium) is taken. All of this is weighted and sarukkarai (sugarcane sugar) equivalent to half of the total weight is taken and all of the materials are grinded together. From this product 250 to 500 mg is given two times a day. This cures stomach disorders and increase the nerve strength.

Kandaviltham:

Akkarakaram (pellithry)
Athimathuram (indian liquorice)
Sittarathai (galangal the lesser)
Sukku (dried ginger)
Fine powder of all the above in equal parts is taken.
All mixed together and grinded with cow's milk and made a paste.
To this paste 4 parts of parecham pazham (dates)  baked in cows milk is added and grinded using the necessary honey.
Now a small amount of this medicine is applied to the tongue. It cures the dryness caused due to fever, mukkutra nooi and increase saliva secretion.
The paste given along with ashes of pecock feature cures vomiting.
The paste given along with kadukaal (ink nut)  skin cures constipation.
When given along with maasikaai (magic nut) cures loose motion.

AKIL IN SIDDHA MEDICINE ALEO WOOD

Botanical name : Aquilaria agallocha

Medically useful part : Bark

Generally it is used for stuffy nose, migraine headache, utricaria, vomiting and as a general tonic.

If we use the well grind paste of akil bark with water and apply externally for the whole body we can get a well tone body. Generally this treatment tighten the loosely packed muscle and gives the body a good look.

Smoking of this bark cures vomiting and sour mouth.

Fine powder of this bark is used for making medicine giving an aphrodisiac effect.

Akil bark oil is used externally as head oil for sinusitis and stuffy nose.

Did Sex Remains darkened in India?

I came through a patient and his wife in my clinic who was ready to adopt a child.
Me and my wife Dr.Anitha went through the sexual history of them separately and were shocked to know that they dont even know the basic knowledge about sex and they even think it as a sin to talk that matter to another person.
What happening in this field is really some what confusing. The general public has a lot of untrue facts regarding sex. Even the educated people too believe these mockeries.
In the case of siddha field these said great visiting doctors whom visit several lodges and said to cure sexual disorders with magical medicines is really creating a mennace to the public by propagating false and illusional things about sex to the general public.
This must be stopped immediately. Otherwise it will create a bad name to the whole siddha community. So join hands to eradicate such false things and save siddha.
