Practical difficulty of siddha practice

Being a siddha doctor I come across a lot of questions from my patients. The awareness about the efficiency of siddha medicine is at the least core among the public. In case of an allopathic doctor it seems different. Why? Because allopathic system is well established and public is well aware of it. I think creating awareness and popularizing siddha among the public  is the most necessary thing. How are we going to achieve this? We all must work towards this goal to save siddha.

Thokkanam

Thokkanam one of the most ancient method to treat patients. There are several methods in massage technic. But thokkanam makes itself special because this is the foremost of all the present technical massage. No body can deny it. As per history it is predominant that thokkanam originated from the kumari kandam. So it is specially practiced in kanyakumari district still now successfully. Here in this district we use specially prepared oils externally for this purpose to treat patients. The line of treatment may seem to be very simple, but the procedures are very tough. Generally these procedure are done in the morning and evenings only. This treatment procedure comes in the segment pura maruthuvam
( treatment) in siddha. Some complicates varmam along with thokkanam. Here we must be crystal clear that both are different procedures and both play a significant role in siddha system of medicine.
